Victim and Witness Program

In accordance with the Department of Defense Directive 1030.1, the procedures of Department of Defense Instruction 1030.2 and Army Regulation 27-10 Section 18 you have certain entitlements and rights if you are the victim of a crime or if you are a witness in a government case. Briefly, your rights include:

  • Be treated with fairness and respect for your dignity and privacy.
  • Be reasonably protected from the accused offender.
  • Be notified of court proceedings.
  • Be present at all public court proceedings related to the offense, unless the court determines that testimony by you would be materially affected if you heard other testimony at trial.
  • Confer with the attorney for the Government in the case.
  • Receive available restitution.
  • Be provided information about the conviction, sentencing, imprisonment, and release of the offender.
