174th Infantry Brigade NCOs get battle focus

Master Sgt. Bernard L. Jones, of the Sergeants Major Academy, Fort Bliss, Texas, through video-tele-training, instructed simultaneous classes with six other installations. Sgt. 1st Class, Shane Stankiewicz, an assistant instructor with the 174th for the course, explained the training is being conducted in a small group leader fashion and 16 Soldiers are in attendance.
The month-long Battle Staff NCO course prepares staff sergeants through sergeants’ majors of the tactical art of conducting and managing synchronized staff operations.
The Dix Digital Training Facility (DTF) at Joint Base McGuire Dix Lakehurst consists of 39 computers and complementary video tele-training equipment (VTT). The facility can accommodate up to 39 students at a time, or it can be partitioned to make three 13 person classrooms.
The DTF provides soldiers with a location to access web-based, job related and professional courses. VTT provides a live training forum for instructor-student classroom interaction in multiple locations. The VTT system uses pre-programmed cameras to zoom in on students with questions for realistic class discussions.
