Criminal Law Division

Two-Fold Mission:

1) Military Justice: Prosecute violations of the Uniform Code of Military Justice occurring within the jurisdiction of the Fort Dix General Court-Martial Convening Authority (Commander, ASA Dix), which includes active and reserve units throughout New Jersey, eastern Pennsylvania and southern New York. Advise area commanders and supervise the processing of all UCMJ and administrative actions to assist in maintaining good order and discipline and ensure justice.

2) U.S. Magistrate Court: Prosecute civilians and service members for misdemeanors (punishable for one year or less of incarceration) and traffic offenses in federal court before a U.S. Magistrate Judge. These offenses involve primarily violations of Titles 18 and 21 of the United States Code and Title 39 of the New Jersey Traffic Code. The New Jersey US Attorney designates a McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst Joint Base attorney as a Special U.S. Attorney to handle these matters on behalf of the Department of Justice. The U.S. Attorney’s Office maintains jurisdiction regarding felony (punishable by > one year of incarceration) offenses.
