Mission of the Inspector General

The Fort Dix Office of the Inspector General provides advice to the installation commander on the conditions relating to the performance of assigned missions, the state of discipline, efficiency, economy, and morale of the command (including Devens RFTA and CE Kelly Support Facility).

Provide assistance when there are problems that are not resolved through either the chain of command or normal procedures. Act as an extension of the installation commander's eyes, ears, voice, and conscience.

Inspect, focusing on issues rather specific directorates/units. Identify problems/issues; determine their root causes; pursue systemic issues; teach systems, processes and procedures; identify responsibility for corrective action; spread innovative ideas and best practices.

How do I submit a complaint to an Inspector General (IG)?
A complaint, allegation, and/or request for assistance can be presented to an IG in person, by telephone, FAX, or regular mail.

What is an IGAR?
An IGAR is an Inspector General Action Request, DA Form 1559-R. A complainant completes the IGAR, presents it to an IG, who in turn initiates the appropriate action. When completing an IGAR, please include as much DETAIL as possible (who, what, when, where, how, etc.). This enables the IG to conduct a through inquiry.

Who can submit an IGAR?
Anyone can submit an IGAR as long as it concerns an activity of the U.S. Government, specifically the U.S. Army and/or its members.
